A TASTE OF THE MIDDLE EAST

Authentic Arabic Cuisine

from gaza

with love

Mohammad Sultan Yousuf grew up cooking alongside his father, who had his own restaurant in Ramallah called King Arabic Sandwich, established in 1970. An Arabic Sandwich is a warm flaky pastry stuffed with a spicy filling. Yousaf followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a chef, working in the best hotels in Gaza, where he served many journalists and government officials who visited the war-torn area over the years. Yousuf, his wife Hanan, and their 2 daughters fled Gaza to seek a better life for their family. They arrived in Johannesburg in 2013 where he opened King Arabic Sandwhich. Yousuf takes great pride in his heritage, insisting on using only the finest, imported, authentic ingredients.
